COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) is one of Pakistan's most applied-to universities — a public-sector institution with seven campuses, roughly 8,000 seats per year, and a reputation built on computer science, engineering and research. If you are considering COMSATS for Fall 2026, this guide covers everything: fees, the exact merit formula, the NTS NAT requirement, scholarships, and how the campuses differ.

COMSATS at a glance: Public university · Established 1998 · 7 campuses (Islamabad, Lahore, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal, Vehari, Abbottabad) · ~8,000 seats/year · UG fee ≈ Rs. 1.46–1.6 lakh/semester · Entry test: NTS NAT

How COMSATS Merit Is Calculated

For undergraduate admissions, COMSATS uses this weightage:

  • NTS NAT (or CUI test): 50%
  • FSc / Intermediate: 40%
  • Matric: 10%

Example: a student with 85% in Matric, 80% in FSc and 65 in NAT gets an aggregate of (8.5 + 32 + 32.5) = 73%. Minimum eligibility sits around 60%, but in-demand programs — especially BS Computer Science and BS Software Engineering at Islamabad campus — close significantly higher. Smaller campuses (Vehari, Sahiwal, Attock) close lower, which is the single most useful lever if your aggregate is borderline: same degree, same university name on your transcript, lower closing merit.

For MS programs the weightage changes to: 40% GAT General + 25% BS result + 20% interview + 10% Intermediate + 5% Matric.

The NTS NAT Requirement

COMSATS accepts the NTS NAT (National Aptitude Test) for BS admissions — you can sit any NAT attempt whose result is valid at the time of application, so it is worth attempting NAT early and improving your score with a second attempt if needed. GAT General is required for MS, GAT Subject for PhD. Since NAT is 50% of your merit, a focused month of past-paper practice moves your aggregate more than anything else you can do at this stage.

All 7 COMSATS Campuses

COMSATS vs the Alternatives

If you are choosing between COMSATS and FAST for computing: FAST's brand in CS is stronger in the job market, but COMSATS offers more seats, more campuses and comparable curriculum at a similar fee. Against public giants like NUST, COMSATS is easier to get into (NAT vs NET, lower closing merit) at a somewhat higher fee than NUST's subsidised programs. Put them side-by-side with the Compare tool.

Bottom Line

COMSATS is arguably Pakistan's best value-for-merit computing university: genuinely good CS education, 8,000 seats, and campus options that let students with a 65–75% aggregate still get in. Prepare seriously for NAT (it's half your merit), apply to more than one campus, and check the COMSATS page on TaleemPK for the live fee details, deadline countdown and latest updates scraped from the official website.
